Lawyer (General Practice)
Randall Johns Law Office is seeking a general practice lawyer with up to five years experience to join our team. The work is includes general litigation (collections, powers of sale, estate litigation, administrative tribunal work) as well as some corporate-commercial work, real estate, wills and estates.
Start date will be immediately post-Labour Day, 2019. Applications will be accepted until October 1, 2019.
We offer a competitive salary and bonus tied to performance. We are a small office (currently three lawyers, a student and six staff) looking to expand. The new lawyer should have some clientele to bring to this position. that person will also assist in the transition of our senior lawyer to three days per week over the next one to two years. We have a reputation for exceeding our clients’ expectations and we are looking for an additional lawyer who sees satisfying the client’s needs as the top priority. We also seek a lawyer who will fit into our diverse and happy working group.

Deputy City Solicitor
Reporting to the City Solicitor, you will be responsible for providing independent and professional legal advice directly to Council and other members of the Corporation regarding legal matters, consistent with your professional obligations as a lawyer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy municipality where you can provide sound legal and procedural advice pertaining to municipal, corporate commercial, planning, development, and real estate matters for the Corporation. You will also assist in the negotiation and drafting of contracts and legal documents to secure legal matters for the City, including necessary resolutions, by-laws, written reports, and opinions.
As the ideal candidate you will have a post graduate degree in law (LL.B. or J.D.) and be a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO). Seven years’ progressive varied law experience is preferred, and your experience in municipal law would be considered an asset. The successful candidate will also have excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, including demonstrated sound ability to provide advice and direction to Council, senior management, and municipal related boards and agencies.
